Why do they classified it as Dual Purpose Ladder? Why not they name it as Pump Ladder, Major Pump or Water Tender Ladder?

The vehicle is either used as a Pump or a Pump Ladder. The fleet number is DPL***, there were some discussions lately on the LFB Yahoo group about the exact meaning. Dual Purpose Ladder or was it Dual Pump Ladder. Anyway it had to do that in the old days they were able to carry the escape ladder.

They are known as Dual Purpose Ladders because they can either run as a Pump Ladder or Pump. The PL has a 13.5m ladder, and the pump has a 9m one.
