Although Lackawanna is in Pennsylvania, this truck was located in Miford, DE in 2010. I've not seen it there for 2 years, presume it was sold. I don't know make model of it.
Hi Richard, This is an American LaFrance. I believe it is a 900 series, which would put its manufacture date sometime around the early to mid-1960s. It's hard to tell the 900 from the updated 1000 series, but one mark of the 1000s is the area between the bumper and the lower chrome strip on the front of the cab was usually stainless steel, while the 900s were painted as this one is. It has a 100 foot aerial ladder and hydraulic jacks and it looks to be in good shape for its apparent age.
I hope it's been saved, and maybe appearing in parades, or on display somewhere. Nice shot Richard. Always good to see the oldies but goodies.

It is a 900. The 1000 had a wider "swelling" in the rear section in the canopy area, to increase the width of the jump seats next to the engine compartment. The 900 looked neater, but many riders simply could not fit in the very narrow jump seats and ended up having to stand. The 900's rear accommodations were none too "user-friendly"!
