CVP 923C Breakdown Vehicle

Used as Breakdown Lorry cum Emergency Tender, Fleet No100 1965 registration usually based at Station A1 Central, seen in 1971 at Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, UK. The first vehicle with a new Carter siren that did not match up to the old ones. Tests were carried out at Central with the two types wailing away, well, the new one moaned a good octave below the old one but they were not changed. It was many years (about 1971) till two-tone horns were introduced in B'ham, though no exhibits at this display. Unusually no station number shown on door.

Looks like a "Powered by Rolls Royce" badge on grill.
Could this be an F37?

Darlington had a similar crane on a Dennis Pax diesel-powered chassis, with a separate standard truck cab. I wonder if anyone knows why this unit was built with the high roof cab, which was usually reserved for emergency tenders and hose layers?

See pic 1608 - the chassis is a 'Maxim' and the crane a Holmes

Yes Tony you are correct, its a F37 which is normally used for Turntable Ladders, my records show only 9 built with 8 being TLs plus this one.
Yes it has a Rolls B81 engine
