This is pretty much the "standard" general-purpose pumper in Germany nowadays, although many are on MAN or Iveco (or occasionally imported) chassis.

Note the hose basket in the rear side locker; these contain preconnected lengths of 52 or 78 mm hose, and were introduced around twenty years ago to speed up laying out hoses. They contain more hose than the traditional roll or reel, and tend to get tangled up a lot less than the north American crosslay or rear bed lay.

Perhaps this is another good idea for other fire services to look at?

Two basket designs are in general use. One contains three pre-connected 15 meter lengths of 52mm. The other - virtually identical in proportions - holds two 20 meter lengths of 78mm hose. Both are designed to be carried in either hand, and the contents can either be paid out by the firefighter carrying them, or dumped out if this is appropriate in the circumstances of the hose lay requirements.
