FDNY Engine 343

1951 Mack LS95 s/n1261 found in a garage in NC and restored by the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation. They supply donated vans to the NYC firehouses to carry family members to a hospital in case of LODI or to the funeral home and church where there's been an LODD. The names of all 343 brothers lost on 9/11 appear on bronze plaques on the seat risers in the hose bed. It has escorted WTC steel to Shanksville VFD, Fort Benning, GA, Arlington Co FD, Baltimore City FD. Its used in the annual Wounded Warrior and NYC Veterans Day parades. Here are pix of the 2012 annual Fr Mychal Judge (FDNY Chaplain) Memorial Walk. (Sept 9 2012)

This example of a 1951 US engine makes the contemporary British Dennis, Bedford and Commer engines from 1951 look downright futuristic. Pity we lost our lead!
Nevertheless, this Mack is a beautiful restoration and a fitting memorial to the lost 343.
