New Zealand 1984 Daihatsu V54w

This is a 1984 Daihatsu that was originally a light rescue tender. The truck was bought as a result of community fund raising and served as the Light Rescue Tender. When the Pump Rescue Tender was allocated to the Paraparaumu Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Daihatsu became the Fire Police Unit (now Operational Support). It carries road cones, lighting plant, chainsaw, aquavac, refreshments and is set up to run as a command unit pending the arrival of a dedicated unit from Wellington. This could be 45 minutes later.

A very useful truck but getting to be a bit old and small for the job it does. The lighting plant is the best around and is useful at incidents when required particularly by the police at motor vehicle crashes.

This vehicle has been replaced with a Mitsubishi Ultralight FE122W Rego XA1179. The Daihatsu has been sold to an animal rescue society in Palmerston North.
