Fire Engines Photos

i am sure DTC926E was the retained pump at Whiston along with DTC927E these were compersite appliances so each could carry the escape.I remember this job well we got the 6am relief but control did not say it was so we went under blue lights. It was ten pumps plus specials. We removed the name plates on station.

Petros, interesting photo, for the likes of me down under the beacons are different? and the front of the machine almost accurately resembles our Commer appliances in Auckland Cc '68-'69??

Pav - in the sixties Carmichael sold fire trucks with this same identical cab on several different chassis, including Albion, Bedford, Commer, Dodge, Karrier and Ford. Only the badges and/or lettering were different, and a few seem to have carried no chassis manufacturers name at all!

It was the only British example I know of where a fire truck builder used numerous different chassis and built an identical design of cab on all of them. In addition, of course, they built custom bodies utilizing standard commercial truck cowls or entire cabs. They also built many pure custom airport crash trucks and later series of custom municipal units on mainly Bedford chassis.
