MKD 901F Liverpool Fire brigade

Here's a shot taken circa 1970 of MKD 901F. It will be seen from the lettering, that at the time the airport station was not a brigade in its own right, but was part of Liverpool Fire Brigade.

Wonderful photo taken at a wonderful fire station. Now converted into flats you can still make out it was a fire station.

I drove this machine when it was at Wellesbourne Mountford. At the time I was a full time fireman with the Army Fire Service and manned this appliance in my spare time. It was garaged in an old tin shed behind the flight control room and just getting it out in the morning left you with arms that felt like they were dragging on the ground.

A neat looking truck with very clean lines. One of the smartest Nubian bodies I have seen. Anyone know who did the bodywork?

Hi Kelvin - were you providing fire cover for civilian flying only [not forgetting Vulcan taxying too :) ]?
