This town of just over 1, 000 inhabitants has forty unpaid fire service volunteers manning a total of four fire and rescue vehicles, including this MAN.

Austria - with a population of nine million, has only six paid fire departments but there are no less than 4,490 volunteer fire brigades - one for every 2,000 citizens!
