A small number of this type of short wheelbase 100 foot rear mount ladder on Mack custom chassis were also used in the US. The 1968 catalog shows such a Mack/Magirus 100 footer. But they are very rare, because the rather short body length behind the mid mounted engine did not permit stowage of the standard complement of ground ladders. Most Mack ladder trucks of this vintage were accordingly much longer wheelbase. They included the Chicago surplus Mack, which was written off in a rather spectacular RTA in the movie "Backdraft" !
