This vehicle were sent to Fukushima NPP in March 2011 as part of Disaster Response Team.

This is a big rig by Japanese standards, but hazmat trucks do tend to be large. Even semi-trailers are used by some US fire departments, and a lot of their straight trucks are tandem axle.

In many European countries, especially Germany and the Netherlands, hazmat equipment is often carried in AB containers - often with different containers for different kinds of incident.
