2 Mercedes Actros - Magirus Turntable Ladders.
On standby at a 15 pump fire.

I am told the reason for wire mesh on the TTLs is that they are usually positioned closest to any fire and thus are at risk from debris, as compared to Pumpers and thus need to protect their glass for any possibility.

Nik, while I don't doubt what you have been told, I have never heard that reason given for mesh windshields. Standard operating procudes dictate the "trucks" get priority in front of the structure. I am guess more for riot control, but who knows I could be wrong.

Just mentioned to me by the driver of one of the TTLs.
Also borne out by no other front line tenders or pumpers are meshed. Only TTLs have them.
