Yes, I know the history of this one. Our Chief Officer Genese insisted on getting the biggest pump unit for our then Volunteer area (largest in NZ at 27 men 20, 000 pop)at 1000 GPM? But it was so slow getting anywhere because it was so underpowered in the HP, cannot imagine it as a rural machine.
I used to ride on one very very similar to this in the old Tayside fire brigade up in Bonnie Perthshire , was around the 1974 / 5 , had a very long gearlever as I recall , big roomy cab with plenty og glass med it feel very modern , fast and noisy or was it the noise that made it feel fast? Anyone have a photo?
Mik if you look at picture 21598 on the Albion page you can see one of Tayside's. I do have photo's of nearly all the Tayside Appliances including the Albion's but they are bought photograph's from a deceased fellow FBS member so I cant take or scan any and download maybe due to copyright?
Hi Grant, You mention you have details of all Tayside appliances, any chance of seeing a copy of this information, very interested in early vehicles from 1950 to about 1970's. My email address is [email protected]
Ed: there are some Tayside Carmichaels on this site. Just search on Tayside. BTW this site used to be very bad at recording bodybuilders. Since I started volunteering in 2020 I have tried to rectify this as I go along.
