New Zealand Mitsubishi Command UnitRegistered in 1988 this Mills Tui built FP418JSRFB2 command unit was new to Christchurch. Following the arrival of a new DAF appliance it was scheduled for decommissioning but the onset of the Canterbury earthquakes in late 2010 saw it reinstated. Rather surprisingly it was still decommissioned in mid 2011 rather than transferred to another region. It has since been purchased by a private training company. (photo taken 2010).

One big advantage of this approach is that when its service life is over - typically with very few miles on the clock - you have a chassis cab in excellent condition which will fetch a good price in the used truck market, and is ready for any type of body the buyer wants to install...
In this case, though, it seems the buyer wanted the entire vehicle, which is even better!
