This 1980 J20 was built for the NZ Fire Service by Mills Tui - it was one of 17 that were built as pumps while an 18th was set up as a rescue tender only. Originally new to the Tawa brigade it was then transferred to the Fox Glacier Volunteer Brigade in the South Island. It is shown following shortly after its transfer to the Sumner Volunteer Brigade on the Evans Pass Road between Sumner & Lyttelton at a motor vehicle accident. This road suffered extreme damage in the Canterbury earthquakes & may never reopen.
