This represents the remains of a one-off appliance that was a relative white elephant. The NZ Fire Service approached Mills Tui to build a budget fire appliance. The accident damaged chassis of a 1973 International 1810A concrete mixer was utilised. The resulting appliance was allocated to the Rangiora brigade but only lasted a short period before it was condemned. The vehicle was then slowly stripped for parts over time with the cab being donated to a rust damaged appliance. The remains as pictured were then donated to the Ferrymead Museum. The rear locker section was subsequently sold off to form a new tanker while the rest was sold for scrap.
