All fire appliances are red? These appliances are frequently deployed on exercises to provide fire cover and it was felt that red fire appliances tended to stand out amongst the drab & camouflage of standard military vehicles. Consequently as part of the refurbishment project three of the Gt11-18 tankers were painted into this mud brown colour scheme. This example has spent its entire operational career based at the Burnham Army Camp.
