Redditch. Dennis.F48. 1985

Taken in 1985 @ Redditch fire station, H&WFB.
This machine was originally destined for the Gibraltar Fire service I believe.Reg. VWP 874R.
She is pictured when on the run as the retained Wrt2, call-sign 2-7-4. (Redditch being stn.27)
In those days,(that sound's really old!?), there were 3 pumping appliances at 27. Water Ladder & Water tender, 1st away machines, the retained Wrt, and the H.P,(see picture 27925).

I believe that the Gibraltar Dennis was paid for from the insurance claim for the Stourport based Bedford WrT which had been burnt out while attending a fire on Hartlebury Common during the hot Summer of 1976.

This appliance used to be owned by a friend of mine, did serve in Gibraltar & was originally registered G 30324. Rolls-Royce B81 powered & frighteningly fast for a full size appliance!! Last seen by me at the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport in about 1995ish? Would be interested to find out what happened to it.
