John, My Father drove one of the MK6s at RAF Pershore. He was what was I believe Defence Fire Service at that time. Is it possible to contact you and find out what other pictures you have please.
John, I believe that the vehicle is an FV651(A) Alvis Salamander with the top hamper being built by Pyrene . It has a 240hp Rolls Royce B81 8 in line petrol engine, driving through a Wilson pre-selector transmission. Some 80 units were supplied to the RAF, the foam discharge rate through the manual monitor plus 2 side lines is 5000gpm for 2 minutes. Regards, Steve
Hi John my name is Paul Whitehead (sac), I served at RAF WYTON Fire section from 1966/69. I would love to see any old photo's along with the names of any serving members of that time.
