From searching the web, I'm pretty sure the chassis is a Chevrolet, from sometime in the 1940-1946 period. Given the hiatus during WW II, I think it's most likely from just after the war, say, 1946. By the time 1947-48 rolled around, the Chevy trucks were acquiring a newer look that continued through 1954, when the look changed again to the wrap-around windshields. Maybe another reader recognizes the actual vehicle and can give us a more complete history.
