The bodywork was done by the Brigade Workshops to their own specs. I served at Alnwick during the 1980's and we had two of these with the same bodys. Cheap and not so chearful. Late 80's replaced by a Ford Angloco, which was soon replaced by a Commer automatic, which was a big improvement. This one was the retained appliance.
These were all originally built by three commercial coach builders. Hallowell, Killingworth Coachworks and finally North Eastern Coachworks. Owing to them later suffering from severe corrosion the rear bodies were rebuilt in the brigade workshops as this example shows. There were no Commer automatics. They were Dodge Commandos.
Do you happen to know who did the bodywork? It looks a lot like Carmichael, but is not exactly the same as most of their builds on D series chassis.
