A wonderfully maintained and/or restored example. These were much loved by the firefighters who used them, - and a surprisingly large number are still in preservation, not least because they were very rugged and extremely durable, with many spending thirty years or longer in front line service.
Their only drawbacks were that the driver sat very far back from the front bumper, which sometimes made entering intersections a bit of an adventure, and the piston pump could not take advantage of the mains pressure when a hydrant was being used.
But these piston pumps were still being built by AF long after most other manufacturers had mainly switched to the more compact centrifugal designs.
Eventually the firm was overtaken by other manufacturers building the more modern designs.
