Halley was a Glasgow truck manufacturer and introduced these pumpers with a centrifugal pump in 1910, only two years after Dennis Brothers. The firm faltered during the Great depression and was acquired by Albion in 1935. It seems fire engine sales were modest and limited to Scotland...

yes, modest sales, kinda like ford with the trader and d series, in the big scheme of things not a great percentage of sales went fords way, most lorry based chassis sold to fire brigades were Bedford and Dodge in the sixties and seventies.

Alan:

There were only two Trader sales to fire brigades in the UK and two more to the London Salvage Corps. The D series did a lot better, with sales to around thirty county and borough fire brigades, including large multiple repeat orders to Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Surrey and some others. It was also sold in large numbers to fire brigades in Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, Ireland, Denmark and the Netherlands.

When it was introduced Bedford was already by far the leading brand, and had introduced the excellent TK fire appliance chassis around five years earlier, so selling D series to fire brigades was indeed a bit of an uphill battle!
