G810 (car 4033, 16 October 1915, glasgow fb) is in the care of north east Scotland fire heritage trust which is the heritage section of grampian fire and rescue service based in aberdeen. G810 was acquired in March 1995 from the estate of george strathdee. From correspondence "we are very territorial, so we re-decaled it as aberdeen city fire brigade as they had on city n types at the time"
Information I have gathered is that this appliance was one of two bought by Glasgow Fire Brigade and stationed at Springburn Road. Delivery date was 16 Oct 1916. G810 was labelled Pump 26. Two units cost 1,930 Pounds (Scottish or English?)
Very interesting Andrew.Im was brought up in Springburn, funnily enough our house was demolished to make way for the new station, but i can remember the old station with its magirus pumps and magirus TL during the late 60s,early 70s,but its good to see a Springburn appliance from the early 1900s.

You're a very lucky man Tommy. What a fleet to watch in action. Magirus/SMT WtE's, Leyland Firemasters, AEC's, Dennis F12/25's and the two Leyland Comets.
I can just about remember PDM 501 turning out of Rhyl as a spare during the summer of '76.
You mention Mr George Strathdee I recently brought a 1927 Singer car and I am trying to research the history of the vehicle. It was sold at auction in 1988 and came from the collection of Mr George Strathdee can you help me to contact anybody who has any knowledge of the collection.
You may be interested to know that Glasgow was the first British fire brigade to buy imported chassis fire engines when they acquired the Magirus water tender escape appliances in 1967.
