FDNY Memorial Wall (right side) at Ten House This is the right-hand side of the FDNY Memorial Wall at Ten House adjacent to Ground Zero that is dedicated to the memory of the firefighters who fell on 11 September 2001 at the World Trade Center.
The 56ft (17 meters) long wall of cast bas-relief bronze was designed by Viggo Rambusch and is a lasting tribute to those gave their lives and depicts the equipment, apparatus and tactics used in battling the tragic event.
The Wall's website: www.fdnymemorialwall.com says that it is not intended to be exact but it is meant to be inclusive, representing each group, tool and type of vehicle present on that fateful day.
Enframed below the graphic and emotive pictorial are the names of the 343 FDNY personnel who perished on 9/11. Below these, and extending across the entire illustration, the events are measured from when they started on that late-summer morning until the recovery efforts were concluded.
Please visit this memorial if you can as you will not be able to avoid being affected by the atmosphere and emotion that surround Ten House and the south of the former World Trade Center Plaza.
