Its a 1970 Bedford/SB-HCB Angus delivered to the Lindsey County Fire Brigade, Lincolnshire in 1970, later tranferring to the Humberside Fire Brigade in 1974 and was stationed at Pelham Road, Immingham.
wasn't it re registered after it was discovered that another vehicle had the same plates or was that the Scunthorpe one

Excellent memory, Glenn - it was this one - and it was originally NFU 438F.

I thought the same Ian and Glenn thanks for confirming this - Scunthorpes BBE 157B was very similar although Imminghams later had the small side lockers boxed in for some reason ( denoted by the newer looking panel of aluminium in this pic)- See a picture 27538 of Scunthorpes on this site at the 1974 Flixborough incident !
The Vehicle was modified my members of Green Watch C.4 Immingham hence the altered appearance it was opened up in the back to facilitate its new role ET / command unit. Previously it had been used for RTAs only
The "F" suffix means it was a 1967 registration, but it looks very old-fashioned even for a 1967 ET. Bedford had been building TKs for years by then and the HCB_Angus TK ET was already in service in other brigades.
This was built on the SB chassis usually only used for coaches/buses hence the non factory front or tinwork , had it been on the TK it would have had the chassis scuttle which gave the factory look of most appliances of this type , I daresay that in 1967 it looked fine but it hasnt aged as well as some
Although Rick Loudon will correct me, I was always told that this vehicle was the sister to Scunthorpe’s BBE157B, but Louth vehicle licensing office made an error and gave this BBE156B which had already been used. The error wasn’t noticed until J plates were used
