A few like this have also turned up in Germany, not least in Dresden, whose rescue rig is on this site. I guess it us because the high capacity of the custom cranes is very rarely needed - and they are a pretty noticeable investment which rather rarely gets to be actually used to the full. Although a few US fire departments have them (LA county being one example, with a 65 ton crane on a Mack four axle chassis) they are really very rarely seen here - and, just like in France, fire services depend on crane hire companies when they need them.
