hi I would like to ask is, with the new coming in what happenss to the old ones, Do some go to the traning school and some in to Reserve or sold on to others.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue operates out of 51 stations and has a huge operational pump fleet. The older FLL's were delivered to all but five wholetime stations. Retained stations use the old wholetime pumps that have been replaced. These pumps are all Volvo FL6.14, FLH and FL6H cabs with Saxon and Emergency One bodies. I do not think that the wholetime stations with older FLL's are going to receive the newer ones yet and these new one are being delivered to the wholetime stations still using FL6H's at Basingstoke, Rushmoor, Havant, Redbridge and St Marys. Two older FLL's delivered to Winchester (wholetime) have also been replaced by the newer ones and the replaced pumps are going to retained stations at Hythe and Bordon. Therefore, in response to your question Mark, when wholetime pumps are replaced they are uselly handed down to retained stations and with any 'left over' then going to the Training School, Community projects or being sold off. Also, new pumps that have been delivered go to Driver Training for crew familiarisation. Hope this helps.
hi, Thanks thats great for the info, so its quite a change around then and will these new pumps now be in service for a long time?, and will all of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Station finally get them wholetime and retained?.
PS.to anyone in Hampshire area if you could look out for their USAR VEH or if no of there location for some photos as am very interest in them. Thank you..
Mark, Hampshire wholetime pumps are uselly in service around 5-6 years before being replaced. I am currently awaiting a list of new vehicle allocations from Hampshire Fire and Rescue and that should say how many new pumps have been ordered. In the future these will operate out of retained stations but following the Hampshire trend, they will have probably selected a new chasis type for the new wholetime pumps.
Also, I do live in Hampshire and the USAR allocations are; High Volume Pump stationed at Hythe (retained), Incident Response Unit stationed at Hightown (wholetime) and Prime Movers and Modules stationed at Service Headquarters.
Mark, I have received some new info on the new Hampshire pumps. It seems that many more retained stations and wholetime stations that operate the older FLL's, are going to receive newer FLL's in a new appliance type for Hampshire, the Rescue Pump. Currently, new pumps are being delivered to wholetime stations at; Basingstoke, Winchester, Rushmoor, Andover, St Marys, Redbridge, Hightown and Southsea along with the retained stations at Alton and Lymington. There is also another at Driver Training which is apparently down to go to Ringwood (Retained).
hi Thank you for the info. It sounds like they are going all out for new pumps across Hampshire to have all new pumps the same or just better on cost to have this.
They are certainly replacing FL6.14's and some FLH's. They will probably keep FL6H's at retained stations along with FLL's at retained and wholetime stations.
