This city of 98, 000 has a paid full time fire service operating out of two stations. The EMS fleet now includes six manned and two reserve Sprinter ambulances, a special unit for obese patients, an emergency doctor's VW Transporter and a SUV for the EMS watch supervisor.
The fire trucks include three rescue pumpers, two aerial ladder towers, three pod carriers, a minor alarm van, the command van and several additional staff and utility vehicles.
There are 30 operational full-time firefighters on watch 24/7, staffing both fire trucks and ambulances, operating a three watch rotation.
In addition, the city manages no less than 24 volunteer fire stations in suburban and contiguous areas, staffed by approximately 800 unpaid volunteers - which do not provide medical emergency services.
