Airport Crash Tender Interschutz

This very unusual massive airport machine apparently based on an articulated earthmoving machine ? was photographed at the Intershultz exhibition in Hannover about 20 years ago. I have never seen a similar vehicle since so unsure if the concept caught on.

This was a joint effort by Rosenbauer and Oshkosh.
Cuba bought one and there was on ein Wisconsin. Several others also were produced. The chassis is actually a military cargo truck chassis. The company Conrad made a 1/50 scale model of it.

Two types were built. The DA-1500 and the DA-1800.

DA 1500 - 1500 gallons water, 265 foam, 500 lbs halon.

DA-1800 - built for DFW; 1800 gallons water, 265 foam.

Versatile, go anywhere vehicle, but easy to roll over.

I used to work for Rosenbauer in South Africa during the 1980s, and have a metal model of this particular machine
