Dennis F12 WTW 749

After nearly 2 years 'off the run' this dear old F12 saw the daylight for the first time in a long time today, 29th March 2011, at the Essex Fire Museum. WTW 749 was purring like a pussy cat when this photo was taken to mark the end of a great deal of very hard work (and a pile of money)on a very sick Rolls Royce eight cylinder engine. It was 'fingers crossed' all round when she started up on the second press of the button! Then sighs of relief all round when she went on a short road run. Just a bit of fine tuning on the carburettor is required and hopefully she can go out to play again. Well done to the two Rogers and everyone else who applied spanners to the old girl!

Excellenct Job done by Roger & Roger and the team. Well done to all. Does anyone have any information as to the pre 1965 Essex station numbers?

I'm sorry to say Bob the F12 will not be coming to Odiham. It isn't because we don't want to bring her, but she is a museum vehicle and as such we have to look after her. At present she will only be doing short runs to events within the county. Yes we do have full info of all the old ECFB station numbers at the museum, Andrew. Hit the Essex Fire and Rescue Service web site and scroll to the Essex Fire Museum. All our details are there and give us a call. Plus there's a nice video of the museum.

Thanks very much Murray, will do.

Looks pretty original, except for the tacked-on flashing turn indicators - which became a legal requirement after it was placed in service.

Strictly speaking, its may now be time to get rid of them - although it might still be a legal requirement to keep them if it is driven on public roads, even though it is now a historic vehicle...
