Worcester's E.T (BA) Ford/CFE.

Taken in 1983 at 9 pump fire, acting as main BA Control, this E.T call sign 219, was new in 1979 and gave long and credible service until the early 1990's when it was de-commissioned. It had a couple of modifications to the rear/interior, having originally had a revolving carousel drum A classic I think, even if the lads crewing it, did get overtaken on the hills!

By 1979 the Perkins V8 was standard on the SVO Ford D1317 fire appliance chassis. This is the same engine installed by Dennis, Dodge, ERF and Shelvoke on their custom appliance chassis, so if it was slow the brigade either specified a wrong real axle ratio, or they bought a unit with a six cylinder 130 or 140 HP engine designed for regular commercial delivery work instead, to save a few quid!

As I was the person who sold the first eleven D series Ford fire appliances to Gloucestershire back in 1967, I am glad you like it...
