The short wheelbase Canter makes for a very handy compact pump. The only drawback to this very typical Japanese design is the absence of a water tank.

The compensating features are:

(1) the twin preconnected suction hoses, which are very quickly connected to a hydrant or alternatively dropped into an underground firefighting water tank (these are installed along all major streets) and...

(2) a hose cart carried in a rear compartment, which also speeds up the delivery hose lay,

so that getting water flowing at the nozzle in under a minute is not unusual.
