This is the LHF10/6 - now the standard rescue pump at Berlin's volunteer fire stations. There are over 1, 400 volunteers assigned to 58 stations, 20 of which are combined with full-time stations, with 15 additional full time stations in other different locations.
The remaining 38 volunteer stations are stand alone operations.
Most volunteer stations also have a second pump or pump water tender, and several have hose trucks in case water relays are called for. A few have ladder trucks and/or other specials, but most do not.
The volunteers are first due to incidents which are close to their quarters, fill out second and multiple alarm assignments and stand by at vacated full-time stations as needed.
They are not in any way considered to be "second class" firefighters, and transitioning between full-time and volunteer status is fairly common.
