Mercedes at Uluru (Ayres Rock)Back in July I submitted a picture of the Dorset Fire and Rescue Mercedes 1124AF / HCB-Angus compact water tender as it left Greenwich in the UK starting on the first leg of its round the world expedition.
Now the appliance has covered more than 15,000 miles (24,000 kilometres) having crossed Europe and Asia and has recently arrived at the iconic Uluru (formerly known as Ayres Rock) in the Northern Territories, Australia.
The Follow That Fire Engine crew have had some amazing experiences whilst they crossed Russia, Mongolia and China before they arrived in Singapore where the hospitality was superb (thanks initially to regular contributor Frank Van De Weerden for his contacts).
So far more than £75,000 has been raised for the three charities and all the details are on the Follow That Fire Engine website where some amazing pictures and stories can be found.
I'll also submit an excellent shot of the Mercedes taken at Yulara fire station in Northern Territories Fire & Rescue. This picture was taken by expedition leader Steve Moore and is sent with his authorisation and he asks everyone in Australia to support the expedition.
