Rear view of LTX 410D showing pump. The hose reel branch can be seen just above the rear door. Seen at Norfolk Gala Day September 2010 See also picture 25857
She started off her days serving in the Glamorgan fire service, they started with a base Station wagon land rover and had the tank and pump fitted by a local firm, when she came out of service she was purchased by National Power where she was used as an on-site vehicle.
She was purchased from National Power by the Welsh fire museum who gave her a (bad) respray and generally tarted her up. for some unknown reason they decided to sell her onto (We believe) one of their volunteers on the understanding that they had first refusal should he ever sell her on again.
When the time came to sell her on, he didn't give them first refusal... she was purchased by a Serving fire fighter in East Sussex who used her as a "toy", the chap was a scout leader so she was used from time to time as something to entertain the kids.
The Wife and I purchased her in 2010, and she is now purely a show vehicle, the light, sirens and pump still work, although, the pump could do with an overhaul as it struggles to build any pressure.
She came to us with only 21, 000 miles on the clock but she was a Very heavy truck for the old petrol engine to lug around (she was on at least her second clutch) so I have retro fitted a 200Tdi discovery engine to make her more usable.
She is getting a little rough round the edges and needs a respray to bring her back to her former glory, I am planning to restore her properly in the next couple of years but for the moment she will have to put up with a few "Make do" Repairs to keep her on the road.
