For some reason, American La France also fitted a reverse sloping windshield to their “Pioneer”series of fire trucks, which were an effort to compete with the immensely successful Ford C series and other commercial trucks which were a lot less expensive than the custom Alfies at the time. Predictably, the effort was not very successful, as their service network was not very reassuring outside the major cities where they sold most of their custom units….
