Miles Dennis F8

The second machine I've discovered this week! Photo taken with owners permission. Found in a barn covered by loads of agricultural bits is this 1955 Miles Dennis F8. It was based at Broadway in the former Worcester City and County Fire Brigade from 1964 until retirement in 1976. I don't know where it served for the first 9 years of service. The current owner brought it direct from the brigade and used it around the farm, now sadly it sits in the barn awaiting restoration.

It sister NFK 706 is on this site at picture 20459. Had slightly unusual slam shut lockers not roller lockers like most F8 Miles-bodied appliances.

Hello Peter and Morgan, I've seen the other photo's on the site including Rick loudon's and none seem to have the slam lockers. Also my photo doesn't show it, but if you look at NFK 706 you can see that they have normal front doors aswell, as opposed to the single folding rear doors for access to the cab. Does anyone know if there are anymore with this arrangement still around? I understand that NFK 705 is the only survivor from the Worcester City and County batch and its a 1956 not 1955 as I first thought!

Hi Matt, According to my system, this one spent its entire operational life at Broadway.

Regarding the Durham one you mention: this wil be one of the trio RPT 928/929/930.

Fire Cover number 113 (winter 1990/91) reports the sale of this machine at auction after 15 years in storage. Great to see it's still around, thanks Matt.

Hello chaps, interesting pieces of information apprearing regards this machine. I would recommend a look at www. broadwayfire.co.uk for a look at some history behind this old girl. There's photo's of her at jobs throughout the site and a bit of back ground info on the new station being built to accommodate her in 1964 when she was assigned to the station.

Hello everyone. This is a real interesting history. I understand NFK705 started life at Malvern fire station, then station 12 Worcester city and county FB. It then went to Bewdley, station 14, and then to Broadway where she remained as Matt said until around 1976, before retirement in 1977.
