One of several locally bodied Australian fire appliances which were built on US made imported chassis of various makes to carry the uniquely British fifty foot (15 meter) wheeled "escape" ladders. These were mainly placed into service in the 1920s through the 1950s. There were also numerous pumpers as well as special purpose units.

Just as in Britain, some of these were purely escape carriers, as is this example, but still others had water tanks and hose reel systems and/or built in pumps. The bodywork was often a hybrid design, incorporating features of both UK and US practices...

US chassis remained popular for many years, serving alongside British brands, then gradually faded - apart from International - until the eventual takeover by Swedish and Japanese trucks.
