Modernised Green Goddess
This is the vehicle mentioned in pic 16557 its a re - engined and modernised Green Goddess that TNT truckcare did as a project with a view (I think) to modernising the whole fleet - then the British Government decided to sell them off !
The picture was taken at Lincoln Steam Rally on the county showground last August this years rally is 21st and 22nd August and is well worth attending !

Matt, it has a Cummins diesel engine, ZF gearbox, uprated brakes and suspension, new electrics etc

We had one of these in 2000 when North Yorkshire was very badly flooded. All the other "Green Goddess's" were the standard dark green. I think North Yorkshire fire and rescue borrowed 25 " Green Goddess's" in total for pumping out duties to supplement the brigades fleet. It was an extremely busy few weeks with some long distant stand bye's and calls to incidents.

I was the person responsible for the whole concept of pushing this project forward, initially to see what could be achieved at a resonable cost.
Originally I tried to fit a Perkins engine but the chassis would not take it, so I settled for a Cummins B series married to an Eaton box which fitted straight in without a lot of alterations.
The engine was fitted at by an excellent team at TNT central workshop Atherstone, where they also had it painted to my spec and overhauled the electrics to accommodate updated blues and electronic sirens. Roller locker shutters were fitted but the brakes, suspension and steering remained unaltered, although the project was successful, the pumping equipment was still original and out dated.
TNT paid for the project with a view to altering a few others to be used as a core fleet in times of stress. However no guarantees were given that this might happen, and as history now tells us the whole fleet was sold a short time after.
I was and still am proud to have headed this project vehicle which will be around for a long time.
