This apppliance was painted white, it is now red not resprayed or painted but 'wrapped' in plastic film, this is a quarter of the price of a repaint

Was this the appliance converted at TVAC? Looks smart, hope the quarter price doesn't mean it peels in quarter of the time though!

TVAC went into receivership in December 2008. This appliance has only recently been converted by Plastisol.

why do Cheshire feel the need to place a BA Command Unit on the run after so many years without one ? I saw this on Saturday at Crewe, it does look smart for an appliance that is nearly 20 years old but they when you get up close you can see where it has been all taped up and evidence of its past life are still visible.
Cheshire do seem to like recycling their vehicles, the GMC's went from RT's to OSU's and didn't they end up as Water Rescue ? plus one survives as the Chip Pan Demonstrator plus the Vauxhall Bravo L4P Fogging Unit thats now Animal Rescue. Having also seen the Range Rover RRRV up close this seems to be a pointless role with just a way of clocking up mileage on some under used Range Rovers.

The GMC's were Hazmat Unit's. However the one at Warrington and Chester used to tow a rigid inflatable boat when required, As for the Range Rover RRRV's - history repeating itself - Cheshire used to have DMB68/9S Range Rover/Carmichael 6x4 RT's at Knutsford and Warrington, before being moved to Birchwood. I've just remembered that there are 2 "recycled" Merc pumps in the brigade too, 1 has a beaver tail body to carry the Historical Society Steamer to shows & events; the other is the OSU at Winsford. Both of these replaced recycled Dennis RS's.

Cheshire seem to waste money every few years changing their livery. I am referring to the blue stripe encorporating the CF&RS badge and that once said Cheshire County Council. That was ditched years later for just the stripe and now its changed again to the new corporate livery. Now were seeing all over adverts on the lockers.

Cheshire is the umbrella name for the FRS, in much the same way Avon is the "umbrella" name for numerous unitary councils in Bristol area. Cheshire is now made up of a number of smaller councils. Just an aside to all this, the stripework/battenbergs are supposed to make appliances more visible at incidents and en route. Surely these posters defeat the object, our European cousins do not feel the need, why do we?

They had to change their badge to reflect the political changes. Cheshire Fire Brigade (as it was) became a separate entity from Cheshire County Council when the boroughs of Halton & Warrington became unity authorities and Cheshire Fire Authority was formed. Further changes have occurred since when Cheshire County Council ceased to exist and 2 new unity authorities of Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester were formed.
