Further to the debate on Cheshire's Day-glo fire engines, here's CTU after her respray on the run at Ellesmere Port as a spare on 12/6/88. All of Cheshire's ERF based fire appliances had Rolls-Royce RB61 engines.

The original 1966 ERF pump escape for Newcastle and Gateshead had a Perkins V8 diesel, as did most of their Snorkels, although the one for Darlington had a locally built Cummins.

Diesel powered water tenders followed a year later, and these Rolls-Royce petrol engined units were included in the line up subsequently - because some authorities still just did not want to buy any diesels.
