1975 probably taken in Chorley, Lancashire. Bodywork designed to carry a wheeled escape as an alternative(WrE. This later became a driver training vehicle. Again dayglo paint.
Not very many D series were built to carry escape ladders, but Lancashire (and later Greater Manchester) had several, and also used D series for almost every kind of appliance.
A minor point - this is a D1617 with a Perkins 510 V8 diesel developing 170 BHP. The same engine was used at the time in several different fire appliance chassis including Dennis, Dodge, ERF and Shelvoke as well as Ford.
