Thanks for sending this picture in Petros,I really was hoping you may have taken a picture of this appliance. This is the missing link in the models I'm trying to re-produce of the City of York Fire Brigade in a project I'm working on. This picture clearly shows what the appliance looked like and I can now try(try)and re-produce it in 1.76 scale to complete the line-up of vehicles in the yellow livery used at the time with what was then the City of York Fire Brigade for the model I'm working on.Thanks, really much appreciated,Pete.
This appliance was painted red when transfered to North Yorkshire fire brigade on Local government boundary changes. It served at Sherburn fire station.
Paul, I am very interested in fire appliances of this era especially those in yellow livery. I like this little Ford, is it a D600 or D1114 Carmichael. Can you tell me what became of it? was it broken up? I have noted that there is another photo of a similiar North Yorks Appliance in a scrap yard else where on this site. What was the number plate I am slowly compiling a list of all appliances operated by white and yellow fire brigades of bygone years I can tell you most things about West Sussex (southern) Brigades but up north I am not so clever. Have lists of Coventry, West Sussex, Newport,(south wales) and St Helens. (Merseyside).

Pete, that is quite a challenge that you have taken on... with a Fire Service history, that goes back over 2,000 years to the Roman Empire days in York; there are going to be some gaps and Missing Links, here and there....
Couldn't resist the "dig"; so looking forward to your creation on "Transport Models" here. Good luck.
Hi Pat,there is no way that I'm going to try and trace the history on York back 2,000 years,I just wanted to re-produce in 1.76 scale a model of an old fire station(I liked York)that operated at one time appliances in the yellow livery from around the early seventies. My brigade(West Sussex)also operated for many years appliances in the yellow livery, but my final choice was York. York for many years operated the yellow appliances, and with the proposed closing of this wonderful 6 bay station this was the one I finally decided to model. At this time I've re-produced four of the City of Yorks yellow fire appliances(see Transport Models),still to make this Ford shown in picture, but have already nw started to make in 1.76 scale the actual fire station. Check-out the Transport Models site, its well worth a visit.Pete.
Peter Its marvellous to see the flying banana again, went to a shout in it and the front offside wheel bearing collapsed at junc' bootham and exibition sq, the wheel shot off the stub axle and collapsed onto the wheel arch! am glad we wernt out in the country speeding along and that I wasnt driving the vehicle! I like the idea of you building a model of the fire station, that would look brill with the appliances parked outside. Would love to see the pics! regards jim
Hiya Jim. If you look at the Transport Model section at the bottom of the page and then go to the contributors part and look for Pete Matten's name you will see all of Pete's fantastic models including the York fire station set. Paul.
