Ford D1114/Carmichael WrL Allocated to Llandudno along with sister JEY311P in 1975. Both appliances have the standard Ynyn Môn design as were KJC729/730P which were allocated to Bangor. This was because Eric T Edwards, CFO of Ynys Môn was the first CFO of the new Gwynedd Fire Service. JEY 310/11P replaced Commer QX/Carmichael WrE CCC 101 which was reallocated to Betws-y-Coed and Bedford S/HCB BJC 361 which went into reserve.

JEY310P saw futher service in 1978 at Llanrwst replacing Bedford J4/HCB 8324 UN and JEY311P went to Abersoch to replace Karrier 75A"Gamecock"/Carmichael CCC 63. CCC 63 was reallocated to Llanfairfechan to replace a similar machine CCC 89 which was written off in a RTC at Llanfairfechan crossroads going to a house fire in Abergwyngreggyn.

The idea of the white band on the roof baring the brigade legend also came from Ynys Môn and was adopted brigade wide untill the arrival of the V reg Ford D1114/Carmichael WrL's.

JEY310P is seen here at Llangefni as a reserve.

Were these the last appliances allocated to Llandudno as a pair until the P reg Volvo/Saxon pair in 1997?

No. SEY 86T and SEY182T were allocated to Llandudno to replace JEY310-11P

The 1114 had Ford's own 300 CID turbocharged IL6 diesel engine; it was a slightly less expensive SVO fire pump chassis than the rather more extensively modified 1317, which had the same Perkins 510 V8 diesel as many contemporary Dennis, Dodge, ERF and Shelvoke units.

This Carmichael body retained the original Ford tilt cab, but much more attractively styled tilt cabs were to be found on both HCB and Merryweather offerings...
