Does E-One have a factory in Europe, or do they build those in their Florida plant?

Total order is for 12 of these appliances.

Added by Richard Whiting on 26 May 2010.

This appliance is now on the run as Newmarket's PRT, call sign 35-5. Seen today 17.10.2010. Incidentally, its twin sister KP10 FSK is OTR as the WrL, call sign 35-1.

Added by James on 17 October 2010.

That's its Station ID, callsign is Newmarket 01 & Newmarket 05.

Added by Richard Whiting on 17 October 2010.

Does this mean that Suffolk do not yet use the National CallSigns?

Added by Norman Price on 17 October 2010.

No we don't and hopefullly we won't, when we go out we use simply 'Sudbury 01', go over the border for a shout with Essex, and its 'Echo Whiskey Papa 10493 Charlie' and its like...christ is it just me or is our way like a million times simpler??? lol

Added by Peter Bromley on 17 October 2010.

Thanks, Peter. You might be lucky if these new controls are abandoned ~ hopefully! Presumably you are now on the dreaded Airwave?

Added by Norman Price on 18 October 2010.

Goodnes knows, having studied the so-called national callsigns with those brigades that are already using them, the simple fact is that due to so many of tnem having their own "take" on it - it's anything but national !!!!! When Suffolk do go over to it - and assuming they keep the same station numbers (there's no reason why they shouldn't) then Newmarket's first appliance should become "Golf Sierra 35 Papa 1".

Added by Ian Moore on 18 October 2010.

Never thought my innocent comment about seeing these splendid new machines on station would create such a full debate! Yes perhaps I should have done my homework re. the signs on side of the Suffolk appliances before making my contribution :-D

On a more serious note, when did Newmarket receive its first PRT or more to the point, before the advent of them, what was the RTC provision for this station, given its prominent road network on its ground?

Added by James on 19 October 2010.

Hi James,
Newmarket first recieved there PrT in 2001 which was AY51CZN.. Prior to this the Station was a WrL & WrT station with Bury St Edmunds PrT Or Cambridge RV responding to RTC's in there area, Suffolk recently increased the number of PrT's in the Brigade and the existing PrT's at Princes Street, Lowestoft and Bury were upgraded to ErT's.

Added by Richard Whiting on 19 October 2010.

From memory, James, when I lived in Bury St. Edmunds 1992-96 the Rescue Pump from there used to go over to Newmarket regularly for RTCs. Not sure when this changed.

Added by Norman Price on 19 October 2010.

Please translate the British abbreviations WrL, WrT, PrT, RTC, ErT. Thanks!

Added by Mike Feldman on 19 October 2010.

Thank you gentlemen for your prompt answers! So would the ErT's be more like a rescue vehicle as opposed to a pump? Or are they simply a PRT with a 135 ladder?

Added by James on 19 October 2010.

WrL = Water Tender Ladder
WrT = Water Tender
PrT = Pump Rescue Tender
RTC = Road Traffic Collision
ErT = Enhanced/Emergency Rescue Tender

hope this helps

Added by Dave on 19 October 2010.

Very helpful! So a WrL is a pump/tank with an aerial ladder? Like a N. American quint?

And a PrT is what we'd call a rescue pumper? That is a pump and tank in a rescue body with lots of compartments for rescue equipment.

Added by Mike Feldman on 19 October 2010.

Actually a WrL would be more akin to a N. American quad. Quads, like WrLs don't have an aerial, but do carry the longer ground ladders.

Mike, some time ago I tried to explain all these ridiculous roles and abbreviations, particularly the many names given to our most basic of fire engine. My answer can be found on picture 7756.
