It is great to see these pictures of a restored Scoosher and whoever is responsible for the work should feel very proud.

I remember when I used to work near to the old central fire station in ingram street and used to see these appliances turn out constantly, when they were new they had peculiar flashing lights, there were three lenses in the revolving light, one was red one was white and one was blue,i took it that these were manufactured in the u.s,they were later replaced by large blue lights,at that time the central also ran a magirus pump, magirus t.l and an aec b.a tender, good job,the machine looks superb and am glad to see one of these machines has survived I would have loved to see one of the magirus deutz pumps lovingly preserved but i think they are all long gone..

I have a small book on the Glasgow Fire Service scooshers, a really fascinating read. It had a picture of this machine in an un-restored state and I always wondered what happened. Incredible, that's all that can be said, what a unique machine and fabulous restoration.

can remember my late Uncle ( who ran out of ingram street before going to Easterhouse when central closed ) talking about these machines.

Yes Colin, the lights were Multiflash beacons, the first time I ever saw them was on the original Scoosher which was unveiled at the annual fire exhibition which took place at Harrogate, they didn't really catch on and I seem to recall some question of their legality, a few brigades used them to identify control units.
