An LF 8 of the Feuerwehr Hemmerigen a Mercedes-Benz 913 built by Bachert old but still in service and in a very good condition. Seen in Kirchohsen on the 16/04/2010
This design preceded the Vario, which was introduced in 1996, and was also a very popular chassis for the huge numbers of LF8 pumpers. These were used extensively by Germany's 26, 000 volunteer fire companies, had an 800 LPM pump and a nine seat crew cab.
Some, with front mounted pumps like this example, carried a second portable 800 LPM pump in a rear compartment, but none of them had a water tank...
Many volunteer fire companies also backed these up with a 5, 000 liter water tender for fires in outlying areas without hydrants.
