Fire Engines Photos

This was bought Direct from Wales by Roger Brown and then was bought by Alan Andrews. Alan rallyed this Bedford for a number of years then sold to Roy and Jason Browne in 2009 this was its first ever visit to Odiham fire show I drove it in the arena for Jason at the end of the show smashing little fire engine.

LEU 250 was purchased by Brecon & Radnorshire Joint Fire Service in 1961. Allocated to Abercraf and served until she was replaced in 1976 by Bedford TK1260/Carmichael WrL PVJ695R. Incidently, Abercraf was the only Powys retained fire station to be turned out by West Glamorgan Fire Control as the terrain between Abercraf and Powys Control in Builth Wells was mountainous.

My grandfather Alan Breeze( then Chairman B&R Joint FB Committee) took my brother and I around all the fire stations in Breconshire when I was about 7 years old (1965) and Abercrave(Abercraf)was included in that trip together with Hirwaun,Brynmawr(transferred to Gwent at reorganisation)Crickhowell,Hay, Talgarth, Brecon Builth and Llanwrtyd. If I remember correctly all the staions had Bedford appliances(Brecon had a Pump Escape and a Carmichael WrL);some had Green Goddesses(Brecon and Builth and ? Hirwaun)and others had landrovers.Brecon may have had a Commer as well(long time ago so not sure) We never got around the Radnorshire ones!
