Falkland Isles Commando Rescue Tender F1320

The first outing at Weston Park Festival of Transport of the Former Falkland Isles 6x4 Carmicahel Rescue Tender. The vehicle has had extensive welding of the floor and door pillars and had the engine replaced which blew up whilst in service. It was donated to TheSixAppealWheelGroup who then brought it back the 12,000 mls or so via canada to display and promote the Falkland Isles. Picture by John Carter - custodian of F1320.

Just an update...the appliance was originally fitted with a water tank & front mounted pump but the pump failed whilst in service some time ago and the appliance was converted to a Rescue Tender by the brigade. When received by the SAWGroup the appliance was virtually bare of any of the previous equipment and the engine had 'blown'. The roof mounted 'bin' was on the back seat together with a 'spare' in a box. The engine now has a 3.9 head fitted to a 3.5ltr block. Pictures of this restoration can be found at the group album site.

What was the capacity of the water tank originally fitted to this appliance?

The following is from the Carmichael Commando specification sheet :-

The 200 gallon glass fibre tank is shaped and mounted as low as possible in the chassis to obtain a
low centre of gravity and a facility for removal is provided. It is a semi-rectangular shape with internal
baffle plates to prevent surge whilst the vehicle is in motion. Filling is accomplished through a modified
adaptor fitted to the suction eye of the main pump. The tank to pump pipework is of
adequate size. The unit is constructed from the best quality fibre glass materials, complying with
British Standards. Level gauge for the tank is of the tube and float variety and is situated in the rear of the
cab
